Polluted CityLife collaboration
June 2024
Over the past few months, we had the pleasure of hosting two exceptional colleagues at our lab — Dr. Olalla López Costas and Prof. Antonio Martínez Cortizas — as part of the collaboration between the ERC projects @pollutedpast.erc and @citylife_erc.
We warmly thank them for their collaboration, their presence, and the engaging discussions we shared.
During their stay, we also had the opportunity to attend two very insightful lectures: • Olalla presented the first data on mercury pollution in Thessaloniki, from the Hellenistic to the Late Byzantine period — an original approach combining environmental and anthropological perspectives.
• Antonio introduced us to the applications of FTIR, with a special focus on biological anthropology and the study of combustion, offering valuable methodological and interpretive insights.
A heartfelt thank you to both for their inspiration and contributions! We look forward to future points of connection.
